Torsdagen den 22a oktober till lördagen den 24e oktober 2009, höll Nordamerikas Ursprungsfolk det 7e Indigenous Uranium Forum, i Acoma New Mexico. Acoma Pueblo ligger i vad som kallas Grant Mineral Belt, där stora mängder a uran finns. Folket som bor där lever med konsekvenserna av den storkaliga uranbrytning som pågick i området under kalla krigets dagar. Nu känner de också av det ökade intresset efter uran, och fruktar en ny våg av uranbrytning.
